TTST Board Meeting Minutes
December 14, 2009
Northwoods Clubhouse, Tahoe Donner
Meeting called to order 6:45pm
Attendees: Dan Kates, Lilia Suter, Natalie DeRyk, Margaret Halverson, Debbie Meyer, Denise Allen, Sarah Clement, Lynn Redner
Absent: Kim Szczurek
1. Scholarships – Lilia
One Senior Swimmer has requested a scholarship due to financial hardship for the winter 2010 session. Debbie feels she is a committed swimmer and a worthy candidate to receive help from the team. Lilia proposed that the $100 scholarship for Her be taken from our Soroptmist donation which would leave $400 in that account.
Another young female swimmer requested a scholarship. Lilia suggested a $250 scholarship for the winter 2010 session. This money will come out of the donation from the Tahoe Community Foundation.
Lilia made a motion to approve the above, Denise 2nd, all in favor.
2. Team Unify Update – Lilia/Denise
A. Shannon Tonin has agreed to work on getting sponsorships for our team. The sponsors will have the opportunity to be represented on our new web site and possibly on a banner at the pool and, in the future, on our team t-shirts. Denise will write up a description of our team and benefits to potential sponsors and email a copy to Shannon Tonin. The Board concluded that a $200 per sponsorship is a reasonable amount.
B. The new web site is “live” and the membership will be given access prior to the start of the winter session.
C. Lilia mentioned that the billing date (pre set in Team Unify’s system) is the 21st of the month. This may mean some adjusting, but we are going to see how it works out.
D. Overall, Denise and Lilia are very happy with the functionality and ease of use of the Team Unify program. Debbie will be able to send her own coaches message each week and the coaches will have access to update the Master Calendar.
3. 3rd Coach Update – Debbie
A. Nate is coming on as the team’s 3rd coach. He is working on getting his coaches card through USA swimming by Jan 4th (His start date). He currently has his level I Certification through ASCA. He will be attending the Pacific Swim Clinic with Debbie and Sarah the Jan. 8/9 in Napa Valley.
4. Coaches Meeting Update – Debbie
Sarah and Debbie have scheduled a “Coaches Meeting” for every other Wednesday to coincide with the Minimum Day School Schedule. They will meet from 2:30 -3:45pm. There is some discrepancy with each local school’s minimum day schedule. Denise and Sarah will go through each school’s calendar and put the minimum days/schedule on the Master Calendar.
5. Vacation Practices – Debbie
During the Holiday break, Debbie will hold a stroke clinic and practice from 4-5:30pm on Dec. 22, 23, 29, 30th. Participants will have to pay an additional fee to cover Rec. Dept. costs. Debbie is checking with Amanda for the fee and Debbie will let Denise know so she can email the members details by the end of this week.
6. Coaches Clinic Napa Valley, January, 8/9 2010 – Dan
All 3 of our coaches will be attending this clinic. Dan estimates it will cost the team approx. $800.
Dan made a motion to approve the attendance of the coaches at this clinic, Lilia 2nd, all in favor.
7. Volunteer Positions
The following list consists of some “categories” of volunteer help needed for the team. This is a working list and not complete. Margaret is working to find volunteers to fill some of these spots. Note the names below have already committed to volunteering.

8. TAC Update – Dan
Great News…Open house at the New Rec. Center was a huge success and Dan and Amanda represented the TAC well. The response was great; many people thought the pool was already in the works. Dan reported that the Rec. Dept. Board would like to see the Bond vote for the new pool put on the November 2010 ballot. He feels that there is enthusiastic support from the Parks and Rec. Dept. and the momentum is very positive.
9. Action Item: Lynn Redner suggested that Dan and the TAC be featured on “At Daybreak”. This is an informational networking meeting that the Hospital Board sponsors each week. Lynn and Natalie will give Dan the contact information.
